Neighbourhood Kids Series - Image #6 (Ellena)Posted by Magda (Vancouver, Canada) on 8 June 2009 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. Over the past two weeks I took photographs of all the neighbourhood kids that visit our house daily. All of them are wonderful kids that play a huge role in our everyday lives. Paige and Tara adore them and treat them as family. My favorite definition of the word 'abstract': something that concentrates in itself the essential qualities of anything; essence. Feel free to redefine the he word any way you'd like." Thank you so much for taking your time to visit and comment on my photographs. It is greatly appreciated! :)

24x36mm from Toronto, ON, CanadaVery nicely done with an excellent use of DOF and selective focus. Just an idea, but this image suggests to me a square crop from near the top and down. 8 Jun 2009 5:45am @24x36mm: Thank you Darren. Thank you for the suggestion. Sounds great, I will have to try it. :) Mithun Varma from Bangalore, IndiaExcellent portrait Magda.. The smile on her face is attractive.. The DOF was perfect. Well done! 8 Jun 2009 5:49am @Mithun Varma: Thank you Mithun Bill Jennings from (Bay Area Northern Calif), United Stateswhat a great pose - you have a very natural ability to make your models be at ease: well done. 8 Jun 2009 5:57am @Bill Jennings: Thank you Bill! I just wish I didn't rush with this one! It was one of the last images from that photo shoot and we were losing daylight. I forgot to increase the ISO, which would allow me for a higher shutter speed eliminating the hand shake. Well, lesson learned - don't rush! ;) Easier said than done sometimes, eh?! (grin) Vinod from Bangalore, IndiaAmazing portrait Magda... Thanks for sharing.. Loved the DOF which you presented it with. 8 Jun 2009 6:02am @Vinod: Thank you very much :) @Yvonne Simons: Thank you very much! :) @Monique: Thank you Monique Craig from Vacaville, California, United StatesAnother fine portrait Magda! Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesI took a few minutes to look back at the series and they are all wonderful shots. Just beautiful. 8 Jun 2009 8:14pm @Laurie: Thank you so much Laurie! Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United StatesGreat shot of Ellena today....beautiful baby blues, and sweet smile!! Doesn't look "rushed" much to me!!! 8 Jun 2009 10:02pm @Susan: :)) Thank you Susan! I want to re-do this one to make it even better. ;) @Sandrine: Thank you Sandrine! Bill from Belton, United StatesThis is yet another fantastic portrait Magda! This series says to me that you have a natural talent in portraiture that puts your subjects at ease. I, for one, find that very difficult to do.... hence the focus on landscapes and inanimate objects. This series ranks at 5 stars in my opinion! 9 Jun 2009 1:01am @Bill: Thank you so much Bill! This means so much to me! :)) Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South Africaanother awesome portrait Magda...she's lovely 9 Jun 2009 5:52am @Mandy Provan: She is wonderful!!! Thank you Mandy! @Ada Panich: Thank you Ada! @LM: Thank you! :) @Pai: Thank you so very much! :) dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Statesthis is wonderfully carefree -- and therefore ultimately faaabulous!!! :) 10 Jun 2009 4:15am @dj.tigersprout: Thank you! :) @Azarakhsh: :)) Thank you so much Marion from Cincinnati, United StatesWow, I love the perspective of this and your dof is amazing. I love how the ground is blurred right in front of the girl....another thing I definitely need to try. Your talent is certainly one of my great inspirations and motivator...maybe one day, I will be able to produce like you :) 12 Jun 2009 12:16pm @Marion: Thank you Marion. You are so kind! :)) @Abraham Siloé: Thank you :)) pedro alexandre from loures, Portugali like the low ground perspective, she has a beautifull smile, thow you really risked the low speed on this one, @75mm 1/60, if this was for a pro job it could be the diference for a great shaked photo, sorry for the tech hint i guess you know this already. 17 Jun 2009 11:08am @pedro alexandre: Thank you Pedro. Oh, yes I know.... I wrote to Bill Jennings how much I wished I had more daylight for this shot so I could use higher shutter speed, especially taking this one without a tripod. I want to re-do this one to make it better. :) I'm glad that you can see it. Those comments are the most valuable for me. Thank you for stopping by. Heather J. Woodland from Napanee ON, CanadaThat's a cute one. Reminds me of my daughter....beautiful! :) 12 Jul 2009 1:00am |
