Neighbourhood Kids Series - Image #4 (Nick)

Posted by Magda (Vancouver, Canada) on 6 June 2009 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Over the past two weeks I took photographs of all the neighbourhood kids that visit our house daily. All of them are wonderful kids that play a huge role in our everyday lives. Paige and Tara adore them and treat them as family.
I have a full permission from their parents to post them here on AM3. :)

Let's set the date for June 25th to give us all some time to get creative. The only rule is that there are NO rules - after all, these are supposed to be ABSTRACT!!! Any photographic technique, subject and processing is perfect! So pass the word along and let's get creative!

My favorite definition of the word 'abstract': something that concentrates in itself the essential qualities of anything; essence. Feel free to redefine the word any way you'd like."

Thank you so much for taking your time to visit and comment on my photographs. It is greatly appreciated! :)

Marion from Cincinnati, United States

What an awesome capture!!! Again, your lighting is fantastic and so are the colors. Did you use your flash for any of the portraits outside? Did you use your zoom lens for most of them or your portrait (fixed) lens? Both your lenses are on my wish list :)

12 Jun 2009 12:20pm

@Marion: Thank you Marion. :)) I didn't use flash in any of the images from this series.... I lost a few good ones because of that! ;) The few last shots that I took towards the end of my last session had too much noise. It was way past sunset so not much natural light and the lens I have (18-200) isn't the best for that and I just didn't think of using my speedlight. :( But, I try my best to use only natural light. What I do is I wait for the best time in a day and then shoot. But, I still love my speedlight. :))

akarui from Kagoshima, Japan

I like this portrait very much.
